Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a windshield repair typically take?
We put a large emphasis on getting your vehicle in and out of the shop as quick as possible. Our goal is 2 hours from start to finish. This timeline may vary depending on a few factors, which may include: body rust hidden behind the old windshield, tight mouldings and excessive urethane causing the removal process to take longer than usual, or calibrating the camera in your new windshield if it is equipped with a Lane Departure Warning System.
How big of a rock chip is “too big” to be repaired?
When looking at a rock chip on your windshield, a toonie is the best reference point to determine if the chip can be filled or not. When looking at your rock chip, there will often be “legs” surrounding the chip or areas that seem darker than others which is a result of air trapped between the glass. If the damage can be covered by a toonie placed directly on the windshield, the rock chip has a high probability of being repaired. Rock chip repairs are never a guarantee and are considered only a temporary fix, they do allow for a substantial amount of savings in not having to replace your entire windshield. If you are unsure if your windshield can be repaired or not, leave it to us and stop in from Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm to see what we can do for you.
Does everything transfer over to my new windshield?
Our skilled technicians are able to directly transfer your MVI (Motor Vehicle Inspection) and any oil change stickers to the new windshield.
Are there any rules to follow after getting a new windshield installed?
We strongly suggest that once a new windshield is installed: (1) the tape at the top of your windshield be left on for 24 hours. (2) Do not pressure wash the areas around the windshield for 4 days. (3) Do not put the vehicle on a hoist for 4 days. (4) Do not slam the doors of the vehicle for 4 days.
These measures ensure that the urethane seal around the windshield cures to the best of its abilities to avoid any air/water leakage.
Are there any rules to follow after getting windows tinted?
Once a vehicle has been tinted, we recommend following this set of rules for the absolute best results: (1) Leave windows up for 5 days after installation to allow the water moisture in the tint to cure in the drying process. (2) Avoid touching or laying any objects against the tint during the drying process. (3) Avoid using any window cleaning products that contain ammonia as this could cause the film to fade and reduce longevity.
What can legally be tinted on a vehicle?
Under the Nova Scotia Vehicle Act, it is deemed illegal for any vehicle to have any color/shade of tint on the windshield or windows to the direct right and left of the drivers seat. Those who fail to comply with this law may receive a fine or fail motor vehicle inspection. There is no limit on how dark the remaining windows of the vehicle can be tinted.
